Play therapy involves practice techniques and materials including art, creative writing, storytelling, games, and kinesthetic activities such as sand play and movement to address the needs of each individual client and help them solve the struggles they face. I use knowledge of play therapy in combination with neuroscience-based techniques.
I offer young people a safe and comfortable environment where they can recover from possible trauma, identify their concerns, express their thoughts and feelings, and consider how to meet their goals for change. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience. I am also a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor with the International Association for Play Therapy offering play therapy supervision to mental health professionals who would like to receive their certification.
Clients learn that challenges in mental health are a natural part of living and developing. They see improving their mental heath as an important piece of treating the whole person to maintain healthy well-being. The end result is gaining mastery over their difficult experiences and a knowledge of how to cope better when facing ongoing or future obstacles.
